THE MOSQUITOES ARE HERE, ARE YOU READY FOR IT?
IT'S GOING TO BE A GOOD MOSQUITO SEASON BECAUSE MORE LARVAE SURVIVED THE MILD WINTER. AND WITH THE CONSTANT HEAT INTERSPERSED WITH A FEW SHOWERS LIKE THE LAST FEW WEEKS, IT REMAINS IDEAL FOR MOSQUITOES. DID YOU KNOW THAT OUR SWEATY FEET EXTRA ATTRACT THE MOSQUITOES ...
WHY DO OUR SWEATY FEET ATTRACT MOSQUITOES?
Mosquitoes are attracted by a mixture of milk, fats and amino acids. It is now possible that our bacteria in our sweat not only provide an unpleasant odour but also the scents of butyric acid and ammonia. These last two smells are very tempting for mosquitoes. So stinking sweaty feet in the mosquito season can make you feel a lot of discomfort.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO KEEP MOSQUITOES FROM FINDING YOU?
The mosquito is active at dusk, so that most people are stabbed outside in the garden in the evening or in their sleep at night. During our sleep we are less able to protect ourselves against mosquitoes. While we sleep our body warms up and smells are produced that the mosquitoes like. Here are some tips that reduce the chance of being stung:
-
Take a shower in the early evening; most mosquitoes become active at dusk and so you wash away all the built-up sweat odours at just the right moment.
-
Remove all standing water in the vicinity of the house. Still water can be found in flower pots, rain barrels, ... It is the place where mosquitoes grow.
-
Always use a mosquito repellent when you go outside in the evening. Your long-sleeved clothing and long pants won't stop the mosquitoes. The mosquitoes sting through your clothes
-
Wear our silver socks and avoid sweaty feet. Our silver socks ensure that the bacteria are killed so that they cannot produce substances that mosquitoes like.
